Our Story
K9 Emporium was created with a simple goal: to source and provide practical, good-quality, affordable dog products that genuinely enrich dogs’ lives and strengthen the relationship between dogs and their humans. Every product we stock is chosen with real-world use in mind — not trends, not gimmicks, just items that support training, enrichment, play, and everyday life.
Our headquarters are based at McKaynine Honeydew in Johannesburg, where dogs and owners are at the heart of everything we do. Being closely connected to training, sport, and behaviour allows us to carefully select products that are functional, durable, and suitable for dogs of all ages, energy levels, and lifestyles.
Because we believe trust matters, many of our products are tested before they ever reach the shop floor. That’s where our product testers come in — a small but mighty team who help us ensure that what we offer truly works for dogs, not just on paper, but in real life.

Bay-Leigh is our stay-at-home dog and a reminder that enrichment looks different for every dog. She prefers the comfort and safety of her own environment, but that certainly doesn’t mean she doesn’t enjoy training. At home, she loves practising heelwork and taking part in K9 yoga, which helps her stay calm, focused, and confident. She is the fussiest eater of the group, so when Bay-Leigh approves a treat, you know it’s something special. She also loves a good chewy that can keep her happily occupied for hours. Her areas of expertise include testing calming solutions, carefully reviewing treats, and putting long-lasting chews through their paces. If a product can support calmness, comfort, and quiet engagement, Bay-Leigh is the perfect tester.

Phoenix is still young and figuring out life, which means he can be a trying teenager at times. That said, he’s also the thinker of the group – thoughtful, observant, and genuinely eager to please. He loves learning new things and thrives when given the chance to work things out at his own pace. Like his teammates, Phoenix is involved in agility and K9 yoga, where his focus and problem-solving really come through. His true area of expertise is tugging – if a toy is made for tug, Phoenix will happily put it to the test. When it comes to treats, he’s a little more selective, making him an excellent reviewer for dogs with refined tastes. If a product needs patience, engagement, and a thoughtful approach to testing, Phoenix is the perfect dog for the job.

Lucca is the ultimate workaholic with energy and enthusiasm to spare. She gives 110% in everything she does, whether she’s excelling at agility, Rally, or stretching it out at K9 yoga. She thrives on activity, learning, and new challenges, and is always ready to jump into a new experience paws first. Her expertise lies in anything that involves tugging or fetching, and when it comes to treats, Lucca isn’t picky – if it’s edible, she’s a fan. She’s also our go-to tester for travel gear, happily heading off to away shows a few times a year and proving just how important reliable, practical products are when you’re on the move. If a product needs drive, durability, and all-round enthusiasm to truly test it, Lucca is always up for the job.
